Friends of NoMa Dogs

Board of Directors

  • Luna & Mike, President

My dad is Mike, he suck. I ask, “can we go to park now?” and he always say, “no, it’s 11pm we can go tomorrow.” So what? And what 11pm mean? But he does give me lots of treats, especially cheese. Cheese is my favorite. Mmmmmm…..cheese. We do play at park with friends a lot, so he ok I guess. But more park would be fun. If see, tell him Luna want more park. And more cheese.

  • Milkshake, Daphne, & Joe, Treasurer (feat. Tillie)

Hi I’m Milkshake and this is Joe. He’s my dad and he does a lot of math. He’s a fed by day and a personal trainer also by day. He just stares at excel and leaves me for the gym, but every morning and most afternoons he takes me to Swampoodle dog park to play with my best friends. We have loved going to this park together since we moved to NoMa two years ago. The community we’ve built means a lot to us and we can’t wait to carry it to even better places! I’m Daphne, the new addition and I’m afraid of nothing and will climb into your lap and steal treats from your pocket. I’m wacko but “just a baby.” I’m Tillie, Joe is warm so I sit in his lap every morning (my mom is Olivia).

  • Maisy & Emily, Secretary

Hi, I’m Maisy. I’m five years old although I have been told I act older and am an old soul. I moved to DC in September 2022 and met my mom, Emily. That picture? That’s us hiking. I pretended to have fun, but honestly, I would much rather have been laying on the couch. You see, I had puppies in South Carolina before I came to DC and that was a lot of work. So, from now on, life is about me doing exactly what I want to do, and nothing else. Hence why I make my mom take me to the park every morning before work. Then I try to convince her to get coffee or breakfast at my favorite place, Old City Market so I can get some pepperoni slices or whatever else they have to give me. Sometimes I refuse to leave, and mom needs to pick me up and carry me out. She says it’s “embarrassing” whatever that means, but it usually gets me a few extra treats so, I like “embarrassing.” Anyways, hope to see you at the park in the morning! I’m usually barking at dogs playing too rough (once a mom always a mom) or laying down on the cement structure with the humans trying to get some sunshine or treats.

  • Winnie & Samantha, Director of Communications

I’m Winnie and my mom adopted me in 2021! She drove 6 hours to Ithaca, NY to get me. I was an 8 month old puppy with a lot of energy, so my mom brought me to Swampoodle every morning to get my energy out! She especially liked how the surface was turf, because I would get super dirty at other dog parks… I love to play in mud.

I have calmed down a lot in the last year, but still love playing with my friends at the park.

My mom is a graphic designer and enjoys creating for Friends of NoMa Dogs!

  • Tillie, Betsy, & Olivia, Board Member

Hi, I’m Tillie, and that’s my mom Olivia. We’ve been living in DC for 9 years. While she goes off and works as an accountant I stay at home and faithfully guard the house from the sun spot on the couch, deceptively fooling would be robbers with my snoring. We had a great life, some dogs may even say the perfect life, but then, 2 years ago my mom decided to bring home….

ME, Betsy! My sister and mom needed some excitement during the pandemic and I delivered. I love eating books at searching for tennis balls! They love (Tillie: ‘tolerate!’) me so much that we are at the dog park every morning without fail! My sister even gets dragged along! I can’t wait to see all my park friends at the park and at FOND events!

  • Wendy & Sam, Board Member

My mom and I are California transplants, and have been coming to Swampoodle Dog Park since the day we set foot in NOMA after our cross-country road trip when she decided to drag me to DC in late 2021.

I am a hearing impaired (completely deaf), and just celebrated my 5th birthday.

My mom rescued me from a shelter when I was 5 months old, and together we’ve learned to communicate using basic/baby ASL.

I enjoy my time at Swampoodle so much, I obsessively stick to a strict early morning schedule and never let mom sleep past my 7am dog park date…. even on the weekends.

We have both made many dog (and human) friends thanks to Swampoodle Dog Park, and to give back, my mom became a valued member of the board.

While my mom is gone working all day as a nurse, I nap the entire day away, waiting for her to return to take me to the dog park for another round of play with my FOND (Friends of NOMA Dogs) friends. Life can’t get any better than this.

  • Millie & Zach, Board Member

Hi, this is my dad Zach, and I’m Millie! We both grew up in the DC area but moved to NoMa last year. My daddy works from home so I can count on him to take me to the park at all times of the day. Lucky me! My dad and I also go on lots of adventures together. I love riding the metro with him! If you see us around, say hi!
